Summer Weddings: How Do I Make Sure My Flowers Last All Day?

If you're planning a summer wedding or celebrating outdoors, you might be wondering 'how can I make sure my flowers don't wilt halfway through the day?'

It's a question we're asked all the time. The good news, is with a little bit of preparation and care, you can rest assured your flowers will stay beautiful and fresh right throughout your day.

Choosing the right flowers for the season

This is where choosing a colour palette and style, then letting us work our magic with specific flower varieties will really work in your favour. Our team have years of experience in the wedding floral industry, meaning we know which flowers are long lasting and can withstand a little more sun and heat.

Hydration is key

Like you, your flowers are best when they're well hydrated! We always condition our flowers before they leave the studio, and make sure everything is supplied with a water source wherever we can. Once in your care, we highly recommend regularly checking water levels and topping-up/refreshing the water that your flowers are in whenever needed.

Keeping your flowers cool

Once you have your flowers it is essential that you keep them in a cool spot. We recommend placing wired items (think buttonholes, corsages and cake flowers) in the crisper drawer of your fridge, taking care not to place anything on top of them.
For all other flowers, a home fridge is often too cold and may do more harm than good. Keeping your flowers somewhere out of direct sunlight is necessary to ensure they don't wilt - an air conditioned room, but not directly in the air conditioner draft is optimal.

Sharing your timeline with us

If you're opting for delivery, we will usually deliver the day prior to your wedding - if you're ordering for delivery any further ahead (for example - delivery on a Friday, for a Sunday wedding) please do let our team know in your order notes. We always check weather forecasts and knowing how long your flowers need to last, and how hot those days might be, can make a world of difference.

Trusting the process

We have done this more times than we can count. So while we do ask that you take a little care of your flowers during the warmer months, we know exactly what it takes to supply you with flowers that will last, and look their best on your wedding day. Every stem is prepped, hydrated, and handled with care before it ever leaves our studio.

If you're still feeling unsure, or if you have any questions regarding how to care for your flowers, we welcome you to reach out and ask our team at info@loveblooms.com.au - we'd be more than happy to help.
