How to Get the Most Out of Your Wedding Flower Budget

Flowers are one of the wedding details that can completely transform a space and set the tone. They bring life, texture and a personalised touch to your venue and day - but when it comes to working out your floral budget, it can be difficult to know where to begin.

At Love Blooms, we don't believe you need to spend a fortune to have beautiful wedding flowers. A few well considered choices will make your florals look cohesive, intentional and full of personality, regardless of your budget.

Here's how to get the most out of your budget.

Focus on the Pieces That Matter Most to You

Not every single element of your wedding flowers needs to be massive or elaborate. Whether it's your personal flowers, your ceremony backdrop, or your reception table centres - decide which elements matter most to you, and allocate your budget accordingly.

If you're eloping, a gorgeous and abundant bridal bouquet might be your priority. For a small wedding, investing in beautiful table flowers can transform a reception space and give a sense of abundance without the need for full-scale installations.

Tip: We always encourage our couples with a smaller budget to think about prioritising your personal flowers, followed by flowers that will be in your guests immediate line of sight when they enter a space - for example, budget allocated to sculptural table arrangements might have a greater immediate impact than a ceiling installation that your  guests have to look up to see.

Trust Your Florist, and the Season

Once you've chosen your items and colour palette, and shared your vision with us, we ask our couples to step back and let us do what we do best! The most special arrangements will come from letting your florist work creatively.

Opting for seasonal, florists choice flowers is also the most economical option for wedding flowers. You won't be able to choose exactly what goes into your arrangements, but you will get more impact for your money, and your arrangements will feel naturally in tune with the time of year.

Choosing locally grown seasonal flowers is also better for the environment, and the flowers themselves are usually better in colour and more fragrant. Better quality flowers at a better price - what more could you ask for?

Repurpose Your Flowers

One of the best ways to stretch a budget is to have your flowers multi-task throughout your day.
These are a few ways to do this that we often suggest:

  • Ceremony arrangements in vases can be moved to your reception to sit on a bar or decorate an entryway.
  • If you opt for our bud vase table arrangements, the vases are included in the cost - making them a perfect wedding favour at the end of the night, allowing guests to take home a small part of your day.
  • One of your reception table arrangements can be used as a signing table arrangement.

Family and close friends are usually more than happy to assist with transporting your flowers between your ceremony and reception if they're at two different venues - saving you money on labour.

Be Realistic About What Your Budget Can Achieve

A good florist will always help you balance your ideas with your budget. At Love Blooms, we list all of our pricing clearly so that you can build a realistic budget before you commit and to give you a sense of what your budget can get you.

Our Wedding Package Builder allows you to play around and work out what combinations fit your style, day, and budget - without obligation.

Choosing Cost Effective Delivery

Florist delivery and bump in/out fees can be much higher than a lot of couples would initially expect. That's because we need to cover labour, fuel, and multiple types of insurance, all of which add up pretty quickly.

At Love Blooms we only offer delivery via Courier, or free collection from our Footscray Warehouse. Most of our couples find that they have family and friends who are eager to contribute to their day, and will gladly collect their flowers from us.
We also recommend confirming with your reception venue - most are happy to take a delivery of table flowers and place them for you while setting your tables.

A Final Note

Maximising your flower budget isn't about cutting corners, it's about getting the most out of what you have with intention. With a few thoughtful decisions and some creative thinking your flowers can feel personal, timeless and chic even with a smaller budget.

At Love Blooms, we aim to make it easier for you to access flowers that fit your style and your budget, so you don't have to choose.
